Facility Reference

Previous  Top  Next

Cities house the population and store available resources. The player needs facilities, however, to harvest raw materials and produce the resources necessary for building an empire.

There is no special unit needed to build facilities. The player only needs sufficient "idle" population and resources (bricks, lumber, and metal). Some facilities (e.g., quarries, furnaces, and lumber mills) do not require any resources to build initially, though they do require resources to be improved. This is so that the player is never "stuck" without enough resources to build the facilities he needs to get resources.

Each facility occupies a single map location. Facilities must be built adjacent (north, east, south or west, no diagonals) to the city or adjacent to another facility of the city. Past a distance of 10 cells away from the center of the city, facilities must be built next to improved facilities. Only certain facilities (such as roads) can be built further than 20 map cells from the city.

Facilities require workers and have an efficiency rating. See Facility Efficiency for more information.

There are several general facility types. There are facilities that harvest raw materials to create resources (food, bricks, lumber, and metal). There are facilities that affect the population of the city, influencing the training, morale, and fatigue of the city. Facilities used to create military troops are generally referred to as "barracks" if they produce land troops and "shipyards" if they produce water troops. Finally, there are travel facilites (roads and canals) and defense facilities (walls).

Name

This is a player-specifiable string. The default is the facility name followed by the facility ID: Farm 231.

Workers
This is how many of the city's population are currently "employed" by the facility. In general, more workers in a facility increases the output of that facility. In facilities that harvest raw materials, such as farms, more workers will deplete the raw material faster.

Hours
Each facility can have its "work hours" set, from 0 to 24. 8 hours is the default value. Longer working hours can result in higher production, but will cause greater fatigue in the workers.

Last Attacked By
This is the name of the last player to attack the facility.
